Do you know how many slots games there are available to UK Players?
It’s tough to know, and we don’t have an exact figure ourselves, but when we say that it is around 20,000 titles that should give you some idea of the magnitude of the UK slots industry.
And, which of these games are the best?
That’s tough to say. What is possible to find out is which are the most popular. But a game title can enjoy transitory popularity for little reason – a good title, a great thumbnail image even, a date in the calendar.
But a slots provider has to last the test of time to get to the top.
These are the 10 best online UK slots providers in early 2021.
1 – NetEnt
Where to start with NetEnt, the enormous Swedish-founded company founded in the late 90s and licensed all around the world?
A good place to start is with the company’s chart-climbing titles.
AT the top of the list is Starburst, the enormous hit game that’s been the UK’s number one for years. NetEnt also have another top-10 UK hit, the massive Gonzo’s Quest game.
They’re reported to have around 1/5th of the world market in slots and nearly 1/3rd in Europe, and have recently taken over another top 10 company (before themselves being taken over by Evolution Gaming, the biggest live casino company).
If you’re serious about slots you need to know your NetEnt games.
2 – Pragmatic Play
Despite having an extraordinarily boring name, Pragmatic Play reliably turn out very exciting slot games that players love to play.
That means big hits like Chilli Heat, Wild Wild Riches, Mustang Gold, and Wolf Gold that are all top 20 UK hits.
The company is new, having been founded in 2012, but is an established big fish now, and its new releases – which often involve big prize pots – are sure of good visibility and lots of spins from players in the know.
3 – Eyecon
Eyecon are a bit of an anomaly that illustrate an interesting fact about the UK slots market.
Eyecon’s games are massively popular with bingo players. If you’ve ever been to a UK bingo site you have probably seen Fluffy Favourites, the massive family of games that is the biggest hit in the Eyecon stable. Titles like Clover Rollover and Shaman’s Dreams are also massive bingo hits too, though you will also find most of Eyecon’s 120 or so games in straight forward casino sites.
The company was founded in 1997 and is Australian based.
4 – Play’n GO
Sometimes it takes one big title to establish a company. Play’n GO’s big title is one of the biggest of them all. Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead is now an empire, spawning sequels and off-shoots like an out of control runner bean plant!
This game is the UK’s number 3 favourite and is a huge choice for free spins offers. The company’s second most popular title is in the same family, and the Rich Wilde character has given birth to a daughter, Cat Wilde. They have more to their bow too, like Reactoonz and the Fire Joker games.
Founded in Sweden in 1997 Play’n GO are world players.
5 – Red Tiger
Red Tiger are now part of the NetEnt family – which we guess makes them part of the Evolution Gaming family – but still exist as an independently branded series of games.
This is another company that had one big hit that really took off. In the case of Red Tiger, it was the Pirates Plenty series that brought them to public attention. Now they are more focused on using the magic that attracted NetEnt to produce improved versions of older titles, for example, a Megaways remake of Gonzo’s Quest and the Reel King Mega title.
6 – Blueprint Gaming
Blueprint are part of the much larger Gauselmann Group, a German company. They don’t have a single top 10 at the moment, but their games are often big hits, and they tend to have longevity.
Take a look at the Fishin’ Frenzy series, for example, and the company also has the juice to sign up for big tie-in deals to produce games like the Goonies or ted pub series.
7 – Slingo Originals
Another anomaly is Slingo. Is a Slingo game a slot? Possibly not, though the games are almost always listed with slots wherever they appear.
Slingo is a cross between slots and bingo and it would appear that the UK public love these games. As their only producer, Slingo Originals can lay claim to being the most dominant company on this list, and many big slots are now being remade as Slingo games like Slingo Rainbow Riches and Deal or No Deal Slingo.
8 – Barcrest
Talking of Rainbow Riches! Barcrest’s successful catalogue is built almost entirely around the Rainbow Riches family of games that has come to define a whole genre of colourful, simplistic, big-prize games.
Founded as long ago as 1968 Barcrest have shown they can live with both digital and real-life customers and give them what they want.
9 – Inspired Gaming
Inspired are giants in the VLT world, a type of lottery play. But they also produce a large array of slots, with more than 100 titles on their books in 2021.
Look out for Rainbow Cashpots, and Reel Lucky King Megaways as great examples of their slots before you try their 20p Roulette, one of the biggest RNG casino games in the UK.
10 – Gameburger Studios
If you want to tuck into a Gameburger you should know that you’re getting something slightly different to what the label says. Gameburger are an offshoot of Microgaming, one of the world’s oldest online gambling companies.
Gameburger develop titles for use outside the US, and they’ve had some decent successes, including with Gameburger’s Playboy branded games and the massive hit, 9 Pots of Gold, a very clever take on the old theme of the luck of the Irish.
There’s a lot more to come from Gameburger, who were only launched in 2019 and have fewer than 10 games yet make it into our top 10.
